Fall Ballin'

After a fitness test and three grueling days of tryouts, the fall roster is set.  Over 100 guys tried out this year, and the coaches have trimmed that down to a more manageable number of 56.  Click after the jump to read to read more and thanks to the Prodigy Network for the Utah Highlights.

Sunrise at the fitness test

Our fall season kicked off with a fitness test.  Bright and early wednesday morning every returning player was down on Kitt Field at 6:30 A.M.  It was really early, but there was a nice sunrise to cheer us up.

We started with a forty yard dash.

Jack Cranston was the fastest.  You may remember Jack from last year, he ripped the net against The University of Utah.
If you don't recall, watch the video to refresh yourself, it happens around 50 seconds.

The rest of the test included pro agilities (Marcus tripped during these.. twice), push-ups, sit-ups, and 300 yard shuttles.

That night the newcomers and returners shared the field for the first time for the last three days of tryouts.  Everyone had three practices to prove to the new coach that they deserved a spot on the field.  By early thursday morning, the fall roster was decided.

Despite losing a lot of great seniors, things are definitely looking up for the Buffs.  With a lot of talented freshman, and and a new coach who has brought a fantastic sense of order to the team, we have high expectations for ourselves in the coming season.

This Saturday was our alumni game.  Bright and early some Buffs alumni's and the 2011 fall team battled it out on the Will Vill fields.  Even though the alumni's were short a few players, they managed to push the young guns around a little bit and come away with a victory...

...And some sweet Dri Fits.

For now the team will be busy lifting and practicing until our first test as a team, at the CSU tournament  on October 15th.

But, to keep your spirits up in the mean time, we will be adding some new items to the merch store this week!  Anyone who missed the sale at the game will be able to buy old CU jerseys, as well as the alumni game Dri Fits, among other CU lacrosse apparel including sweatshirts, sweatpants, t-shirts, and shorts.

Until then, follow us on twitter at twitter.com/redhotbuffs for updates in between posts!

  3. Wow! Jack Cranston is so fast. I think he is also one of the best player of the team I remember him from last year. He ripped the net against The University of Utah.
